How You Can Help

The Focus Foundation was founded in 1975 and, for most of its years of operation, was funded entirely by government grants. However, with increased pressure on government to limit — or reduce — spending, at a time of increasing demands, Focus is required to rely more and more on donations and support from corporations, private individuals and charitable foundations.

Staff and the Board of Focus welcome the challenge of building private sector and community support to complement the available government funding. However, it will require us to significantly expand our support network and funding base.
We are all proud of the work we do and confident that our contributions will be recognized by both the public and private sectors to enable us to continue with our current programs and expand them into the future.  We are also strongly committed to our mission of providing a nurturing foundation of education and care for children who simply cannot fit within the mainstream school system.

We believe everyone has the right to succeed, no matter how tough their circumstances, or how difficult it may be for others to help them reach their potential. But this belief is not based on empty-headed idealism. Our board includes several tough-minded business people who have come to understand the costs to society when children fail. They realize that the bottom line for failure is a large bill that we, as a broader community, must pay.

We ask you, therefore, to join us in helping to keep our schools and programs alive by becoming a donor or supporter supporter of the Focus Foundation. As a donor, you will have the satisfaction of seeing your dollars literally transform human lives. As a supporter, you can help to bring more Focus programs to children across the province of British Columbia and connect with other people whose dreams you share.

Help us to continue reaching and teaching high-risk youth and helping them to build successful lives.
